Casco Viejo, also known as the Old Quarter, is the historic heart of Panama City and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is known for its cobblestone streets, restored colonial buildings, plazas, churches, and viewpoints overlooking the ocean and skyline. Walking through Casco Viejo gives a good sense of Panama’s history, blending Spanish colonial architecture with modern cafés, museums, and cultural spaces. It’s best explored on foot and works well as a half-day cultural visit, with time to stop, walk slowly, and take in the atmosphere.
